Eric Johnathon Heaton

Eric Johnathon Heaton, 38, of Laurinburg passed away on June 27, 2023.

A funeral service will be at 4:00 PM, Friday, June 30, 2023 at Bumgarner Family Funeral Service and Crematorium Chapel officiated by Rev. Jerry Mims. Burial will follow at Union Light Baptist Church Cemetery in Maxton.

Born on June 24, 1985, in Scotland County, he was the son of the late Thomas Bryant and Teresa Gail Locklear. Eric is survived by his children, Selena Heaton of Lumberton, and Rylan Heaton, Madison Heaton, and Eric James Heaton, all of Laurinburg; brothers, Ryan A. Locklear of Maxton, and Adam Locklear (Kayla) of Prospect; sister; maternal grandmother, Mildred Doss of Laurinburg; maternal grandfather, Davis Smiling of Maxton; and uncles, David Smiling Jr., of Pembroke, and Marcus Smiling of Laurinburg.  He is preceded in death by his son, Deron Heaton.

Eric enjoyed all sports, from football and baseball to basketball and soccer. He was happiest when he was engulfed in the world of sports.

The family will receive friends at Bumgarner Family Funeral Service and Crematorium from 2:30-3:30 PM prior to the service.
