E. Hervey Evans Jr, of Laurinburg, NC died Monday, February 7, 2000. Born October 7, 1925 in Goldsboro, NC, he was the eldest son of E. Hervey Evans and Anne Borden Evans. In June 1999, he and his wife, the former Carolyn Cannady, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. He lived a full life, blessed with five children and ten grandchildren. He was a loving and supportive husband and friend, and an inspiring and playful father and grandfather. Full of faith and compassion, he served as an Elder and Sunday school teacher for many years at Laurinburg Presbyterian Church and as a community volunteer.
His lifelong vocation was the creation and management of family-owned businesses, mostly agribusiness related. He was instrumental in the initial conception and founding of Cotton Incorporated, the highly successful research and promotion company owned by Americaa
