Emily Zellars Mcneill

Mrs. McNeill was born May 16, 1904, in Grantville, Georgia. She graduated from The Castle in Tarrytown, NY, in 1921, and Agnes Scott College, in Decatur, GA, in 1925. She was married to Duncan Campbell McNeill, Jr., of Laurinburg, in 1927. Mrs. McNeill was active in the community where she taught in the public school system and was chairman of the board of trustees for the Scotland County Memorial Library for 48 years.

Mrs. McNeill's husband, D.C. McNeill, Jr. and her grandson, David McColl Haupt, preceded her in death. She is survived by her three daughters, Mary Claire Kaufman, of Douglas, WY; Frances McNeill Haupt, of Dillon, SC; and Emily McNeill Sconyers, of Durham, NC. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted Thursday, April 22, at 11:00 A.M. at the Laurinburg Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Nick Mager officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Triangle Hospice, 1804 Martin L. King, Jr. Parkway #12, Durham, NC 27707.
