Mrs. Elsie Beard McDougald, 86, died Sunday, June 21, 2009.
A memorial service will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church, Hamlet. A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hillside Cemetery, Laurinburg.
She is survived by two sons, Robah B. "Mac" McDougald of Laurinburg, Gordon McDougald and wife, Jo Ann, of Summerville, SC; a daughter, Cathy Herman and husband, David, of Cary; three grandchildren, Chrissie Herman of Durham, David Herman, Jr. of Spartanburg, SC, and Joey Steen and wife, Ellen of Ellerbe; a niece, Gloria Reynolds and husband, Petesy of Myrtle Beach. She was the widow of the late Robah B. McDougald.
Born September 18, 1922 in Cumberland County, she was a graduate of Myrtle Beach High School and Winthrop University. Elsie was a homemaker and a former librarian at the Hamlet Library.
