Elmer Kottyan, 84, of the Deercroft community passed away Monday, February 29, at Morrison Manor.
A graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 3, at Hillside Memorial Park.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Smith Kottyan; his sons, Samuel Kottyan (Lisa) of Matthews, Timothy Kottyan (Kim) of Laurel Hill, and David "Randy" Kottyan (Riana) of Matthews; five grandchildren, Macy, Spencer, Alex, Kirana, and Aiden.
Born September 30, 1931 in Phillipsburg, NJ, he was a son of the late Steve and Irene Babos Kottyan.
Elmer was a computer programmer and installed the Scotland County computer system. He remained as Department Head until his retirement on December 30, 1999. In his earlier days he enjoyed hunting and salt water fishing.
In his leisure time, Elmer loved gardening and taking family vacations to the beach.

Visitation will be 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
