Mr. Ellsworth Mason Stubbs, 92, of 304 Yadkin Ave. died Sunday, September 12, at Scotland Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church officiated by the Rev. Dr. L. D. Kimrey. Burial will follow in Pine Crest Cemetery in Gibson.
He is survived by his daughter, Mary Elizabeth Hedgpeth of Laurinburg; a brother, Jesse Stubbs of Laurinburg; two sisters, Lucille Smith and Miriam West of Laurinburg. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Roxie Stubbs.
Born January 29, 1912 in Scotland County, Ellsworth was a son of the late Norman S. and Clevie Mason Stubbs. An active member of the First Baptist Church, Ellsworth was a former deacon and served for 11 years as the Sunday school superintendent. In 1935 he went to work with Ed Lytch on Fairley Street in Laurinburg, bought the company in 1946, and since it has been a local institution officially named E. M. Stubbs Electronic and Radio Service.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
