Ellen Dorn Garman

Ellen Dorn Garman, 67, of Troy passed away Sunday, May 7, 2023 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Methodist Church of Troy, officiated by Rev. Vanlene Nelson. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends Friday, May 12, 2023 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Bumgarner Family Funeral Service in Troy.

Born June 1, 1955, in Miami-Dade County, FL., she was a daughter of the late Henry and Winnie McCracken Dorn. Ellen was a 1973 graduate of Deland High School in Deland, Florida. She went on to earn an Associate Degree and had a fulfilling career as a Treatment Coordinator in dentistry at Lane & Associates in Biscoe and Troy. Ellen was very involved in church and loved her church family. She enjoyed cooking, making cakes, the beach, traveling, and Mickey Mouse. Ellen loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Ellen is survived by her husband of 35 years, Danny Garman of the home, and their three daughters, Melissa Burgess (James) of Burgaw, Stephanie Abrams (Tim) of New Bern, and Danielle Meadows (Ray) of Raleigh; sister, Louise Benner of Raleigh; six grandchildren, Tyler, Madeleine, Noah, Ivy, Savannah, and Parker, who were the light of her life; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy “Dottie” Couch and brother, Robert Dorn.
