Mrs. Elizabeth Hayes Young, 83, of 405 S. Austin Street died Sunday, August 15, at her residence.


Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church officiated by the Revs. Norvin Forester and Robert Ivey. Burial will follow in Old Hollywood Cemetery in Lumberton.


She is survived by three daughters, Jean B. Medlin of Maxton, Carol B. Nolan of Asheboro, and Sylvia B. Foxworth and her husband, E. B., of Maxton; three brothers, Floyd Hayes and Adrian Hayes of Lumberton, and Bobby Hayes of Rock Hill, SC; four sisters, Corrine Henderson of Danville, VA, Hester Tyson of Elm City, Laura Floyd of Fairmont, and Kathryn Calvert of Lumberton; 9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.


Born May 16, 1916 in Robeson County, she was a daughter of the late Furman F. and Lydia Hester Hayes and widow of the late Gaston Young. She was a member of the First Baptist Church for 48 years and a retired food supervisor for the Maxton City Schools.


Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Monday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
