Elizabeth Gibson "Lib" McLaurin

Mrs. Elizabeth Gibson "Lib" McLaurin, 93, of Scotia Village and formerly of McColl, SC died Sunday, November 27, at the Duke University Medical Center.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church in McColl officiated by the Revs. Sherrolyn Weed and Elizabeth Forester. Entombment will be 3 p.m. at Southeastern Memorial Gardens in North Myrtle Beach.
She is survived by a son, H. F. "Penny" McLaurin and wife, Catherine of Laurinburg; a sister, Polly G. Edwards of Laurinburg; six grandchildren, Al McLaurin and wife, Kathy, Elizabeth Powell and husband, Mike, John M. McLaurin, III and wife Lynn, and Finch McLaurin and wife, Amy of Shallotte, Mac McLaurin and wife, Catherine of McColl, and Boyd McLaurin and wife, Sharlene of Laurinburg; 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, John M. McLaurin, II. She was also preceded in death by her siblings; Myrtle Pate G. Howell, Meta Bell G. Gibson, Henry Lloyd Gibson, Louise Henderson G. Neal, Clyde Whitfield Gibson, Myra Margaret G. Neil, Henry Franklin Gibson, and Mary Evelyn Gibson.
Born July 29, 1912 in Scotland County, she was a daughter of the late Henry Franklin and Sarah Elizabeth Henderson McLaurin. Along with her late husband, John F. McLaurin, they owned and operated McLaurin Hardware and Furniture in McColl.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where she was past president of the Women of the Church and held other offices. She was also a member of the Carlyle Book Club.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Morris Morgan Room, Scotia Village.
