Eleanor Frances Jenkins Reynolds

Mrs. Eleanor Frances Jenkins Reynolds, 84, of Scotia Village and formerly of Scotch Meadows died Monday, June 6, at Scotia Village.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church officiated by the Rev. Robert Diegelman. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Harold John "Jack" Reynolds; three daughters, Sharlene T. Reynolds of Lafayette, CO, Sandra Schroer of Evergreen, CO, and Suzanne Reynolds of Colorado Springs, CO; her sisters, Marjorie Conover of Fenton, MI and Patricia Penn of Hendersonville, NC; her brother, Donald Jenkins of Gilmanton Iron Works, NH; and four grandchildren, Katharine Pepin, Conor Pepin, Jessica Schroer, and Sean Schroer. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Sharon Louise Reynolds.
Mrs. Reynolds was born March 4, 1921 in New Brunswick, NJ, the daughter of the late Ralph A. and Rachel Osborne Jenkins. She married H. John Reynolds on July 11, 1953 and later relocated with three children to Denver, CO in 1972 and in 1987 the couple moved to Laurinburg.
Eleanor was a loving and devoted homemaker as well as a working mother. She retired in 1986 after 46 years in the personal secretarial profession for Merck and Co., Rutgers University, and Northwestern Mutual Insurance Co. She was a Girl Scout leader in New Jersey and volunteered as a reading instructor for the Scotland County Literacy Council. She was also active in the Legion of Mary and the Christmas Cheer program at St. Mary Catholic Church. Her favorite hobbies included gardening, sewing, reading, bowling, and the Senior Olympics. Everyone recognized Eleanor for her very warm greeting smile and friendly nature.
