Elaine Sweeney Andrews

Elaine Sweeney Andrews, 84, of Troy passed away peacefully at her niece’s home Monday, May 20, 2024.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Bumgarner Family Funeral Service Chapel, officiated by Rev. Rodney Holmes. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the chapel.

Elaine was born on April 4, 1940, in Colchester, Vermont to Marie Lauzon and Armand Francis Sweeney. Elaine worked as a nurse assistant at Providence Hospital in Holyoke, Massachusetts. In 1980, she moved to Troy with her late husband, James Andrews. She worked at several restaurants including Troy Family Restaurant, Carolina Fried Chicken, and Better Burger.

Elaine enjoyed gardening, riding her moped, and bird watching. She always enjoyed visits from her son, Todd, who would play his guitar and sing to her. She loved watching videos of her great-grandson, TJ, playing football and playing his guitars. Elaine was a devoted donor to many animal shelter organizations.

Elaine is survived by her two sons, James M. Andrews of Worcester, Massachusetts and Todd Andrews and his wife, Pamela of Toms River, New Jersey; sister, Gail Tilton of North Wilkesboro; brother, Donald “Donnie” Sweeney and niece, Sharon McKechni, both of Chicopee, Massachusetts; granddaughters, Tracey Sincavage and Nicole Yeager; great-grandchildren, John, Katelin, and TJ; special great-niece and care taker, Charlene A. Null. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Andrews; sons, Mark Andrews and David Andrews; and sister, Joyce McKechni.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Gentiva Hospice Staff, Jessica Morton, Jennifer Moses, and Melissa Barringer for their compassion and care shown to Elaine during her time of need.
