Eileen (Jamerson) Graham

February 18, 1935 — November 26, 2024

Laurinburg

Eileen Jamerson Graham passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 26th, 2024, at Morrison Manor in Laurinburg, North Carolina.

A memorial officiated by Reverend Jeanne Baucom will be held at 2 pm on Friday, December 6th at First Baptist Church in Laurinburg. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Fellowship Hall.

Born on February 17th, 1935, to Dessie Revis and Asbury Wellington Jamerson, Eileen was raised in the mountains of Western North Carolina in and around the Mars Hill and Forks of Ivy communities.  A graduate of Mars Hill Junior College and Western Carolina University, she moved to Laurinburg in 1956 where she spent close to forty years teaching fourth and fifth grade students at Central and Covington Street Schools and then with the Richmond Community College Adult Education Program.

She was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Laurinburg where she sang in the choir, was actively involved in the Ruth Sunday School Class, and served as a deacon.  Over the years, she was involved in volunteering with Meals on Wheels, singing at various community events with the Melancholy Babies, and playing bridge with wonderful friends.

Always committed to family, Eileen devoted herself to visiting and keeping close ties with her family in the mountains. She was an incredibly supportive mother and grandmother and made intentional efforts to be present at her children and grandchildren’s various activities, from dance recitals to sporting events to academic celebrations. She had a keen eye for fashion and an unwavering taste for chocolate; she had a beautiful smile, a fun-loving spirit, and a kind and generous heart. She is already greatly missed.

In addition to her parents, Eileen was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, James Aubry Graham, Jr; her brothers Kyle, Coy, Grey, Don, Bruce, and Kermit Jamerson; her sisters Vera Rice, Marie Jamerson, and Genevieve “Johnnie” Clay; and son-in-law Barry Scott Lingafelt.  She is survived by her son James (Claire) Wellington Graham, Sr. of Laurinburg; her daughter Lynn Graham Lingafelt of Raleigh; her six adoring grandchildren:  Susannah (Clayton) Graham, Wells (April) Graham, Aubry Graham, Luke (Molly) Lingafelt, Sarah (Nick) Robison, and Philip Lingafelt; her two great-grandchildren, Maggie and Parker Lingafelt; sisters-in-law Carolyn Jamerson and Nell Lyon, and many loving nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend gratitude to her special caregiver Marie C. Hammonds and the Scotland Regional Hospice staff for their loving care over these past twenty months as well as to the staff at Morrison Manor for their tender care during Eileen’s last few days.
