Edward Franklin ''Ed'' Ellis

Mr. Edward Franklin "Ed" Ellis, 79, of 17020 Morris Drive died Thursday, November 1, at Scotland Memorial Hospital.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Hillside Memorial Park officiated by the Rev. Clayton Gween.

He is survived by his wife; Mary Bowen Ellis; three sons, Jim Ellis and wife, June, Mickey Ellis and wife, Jenny, and Robert Ellis and wife, Lisa of Laurinburg; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren, a special nephew, Tommy Ellis and wife, Judy of Laurel Hill.

He was born October 27, 1922 in Columbus County and was a son of the late Noah F. and Sarah Elizabeth Ellis. Ed was a World War II veteran of the US Navy and was a self employed merchant, operating Homemont Grocery for 20 years. He was an active member of Pleasant View Presbyterian Church.

Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Friday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
