Mrs. Edna Blue Rudd Purcell, 85, of Scotia Village died Saturday, August 18, at her residence.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Monday at Laurinburg Presbyterian Church officiated by the Revs. Nick Mager and Elizabeth Forester. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery.
She is survived by three daughters, Jane Thames and husband, John of Laurinburg, Linda Alford and husband, Earl of Minturn, SC, and Margaret Boan and husband, Tom of Florence, SC; a sister-in-law, Margaret Bradshaw of Laurinburg; seven grandchildren, Blue Huggins, Rich Alford, Mary Margaret Thames, Sam Boan, Katie Boan, Johnny Thames, and Bobby Thames; and three great grandchildren.
Born April 7, 1916 in Laurinburg, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Edna Earl Blue Rudd and widow of the late Gilchrist Purcell. She was also a granddaughter of the late John Blue and was raised in the historic John Blue House. She was a lifetime member of Laurinburg Presbyterian Church and was active in the Women of the Church.
