Mrs. Edith McLaurin Owens, 76, of Rocky Face and formerly of North Carolina died March 13, 2009 at Hamilton Medical Center in Dalton Georgia.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Gibson Baptist Church, Gibson, NC. Burial will follow in Pine Crest Cemetery.
She was the daughter of the late, Baxter and Garphelia Stubbs McLaurin and was preceded in death by her three brothers. Edith was an active member of the Dug Gap Baptist Church.
She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, William Owens of Dalton; children and their spouses, Lynn (Randy) Owens Cochran of Kernersville, NC, Hugh (Melanie) Owens of Rossville, GA., and Kenneth Owens of Ringgold, GA.; sisters, Betty Axsom of Holden Beach, Dee Caudle of Ocean Isle and Barbara Owens of Asheboro; brother, Ronnie McLaurin of Rockingham, NC.; 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 300 West Emery St., Suite 106, Dalton, GA. 30720 or to the Dug Gap Baptist Church, 2301 Dug Gap Rd., Dalton, GA. 30720.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium in Laurinburg.
