D. Kemp Garvin, Jr. 78, of the Deercroft community passed away Thursday, February 11, at Morrison Manor.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Donna Botwright Garvin; his father and mother-in-law, Gene and Donna Botwright of Laurinburg; his brother-in- law, Dr. Gene (Tippi) Botwright of Laurinburg; his nieces, Serafina Botwright and Melissa Medlin (Bryan); his nephew, Rusty Botwright, his great niece and nephew, Henry and Gracie Medlin; his family at Scotland Regional Hospice; his sister, Cindy Wilcox (T. D.) of Macon, GA; his son, Kenneth Garvin of Gainesville, FL; his daughter, Stacey Louise Garvin of Gainesville, FL. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Garnet Garvin.
Born December 28, 1937 in Eastman, GA, he was a son of the late Dyer K. and Elizabeth Hill Garvin. He served two years with the US Air Force and was an optician for over 50 years – a profession that he loved deeply. In his spare time Kemp was an avid deep sea fisherman, NASCAR fan, and flying his private airplane. He was well loved by his family and will be truly missed.
