Mr. D. Dupree Ward, 77, died Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at Morrison Manor.
A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Hillside Memorial Park officiated by the Rev. Robert Dean. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
He is survived by his wife, Joy Cooper Ward; three daughters, Wanda Callahan and husband, Larry, Vicki Scott and husband, Jerry, and Mary "Lindy" Goins and husband, Curtis of Laurinburg; three step-sons, Alan Brigman of Laurinburg, Chris Brigman and wife, Linda of McColl, and Richard Brigman and wife, Martha of Pittsboro; two brothers, James A. Ward and wife, Leoma of Laurinburg and Earl Ward and wife, Margie of Laurel Hill; a sister, Dorothy Clark and husband, John Wayne of Laurinburg; seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lillian Ward; a granddaughter, Tara Ward; and a step-son, "Dingy" Brigman.
Born January 30, 1932 in Scotland County, he was a son of the late Tony Samuel and Mary Jane McFadyen Ward. He served in the US Army and later was employed with the Manville Corporation. In his spare time Dupree loved working on cars, building items in his workshop, working in his yard and playing golf.
