Doris Richardson

Doris Lucille Hogan Richardson passed away Sunday, July 3, 2022, peacefully in her sleep with her daughter by her side.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 16, 2022 at Bumgarner Family Funeral Service Chapel, officiated by Rev. Dave Wensil. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

She was born to Henry Hogan and Lola Yarbourgh Hogan of Troy on January 31, 1933. She married Dossie J. Richardson on October 28, 1950.  Doris worked at Collins & Aikman in Norwood for 20 years. She retired in 1996 from Forrest Hosiery in Troy. Her favorite things to do were to fish, crossword puzzles, working with her flowers, and cracking pecans. Doris was loved by all her many, many nieces’ nephews, and family.

She is survived by her four children, Phillip Richardson (Alice) of Mt. Gilead, Phyllis Scott of Troy, Shirley Nash of Mt. Gilead, and Bernadean Cannon (Troy) of Hudson, NC.; sister, Carol Clark (Arnold) of Troy; brother, Harold Hogan (Mary Ann) of Candor; sister-in-law, Marlene Hogan of Winston Salem; eight grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Dossie J. Richardson, brothers, William Hogan and Ralph Hogan; and sister, Sarah Scarbourgh.
