Mrs. Doris Janette Purvis Stubbs, 86, of Smyrna Church Road died Thursday, October 27.
Funeral services will be Friday at Faith Presbyterian Church officiated by Dr. Bruce Exxell. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park.
She is survived by a son, Larry Dixon (Kathy) of Conway, SC; a daughter, Billie Ann Karas (Joe) of Laurinburg, a brother, J. Robert Purvis of Savannah, GA; two sisters, Christine Ratley of Laurinburg and Ruth Trollinger of Rockwell; a special friend, W. E. Peele of Laurinburg; 3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Born July 6, 1924 in Robeson County, she was a daughter of the late John D. and Elsie Lee Knapp and widow of the late Willie Stubbs. She was an active member of Faith Presbyterian Church, doing anything that was needed at the church including serving as a choir member and assisting with the ingathering.
Janette was retried from the US Civil Service and later worked at the Wachovia Bank South Main office. She was also the first head cheerleader for the Scotland County Senior Games and wrote many of their cheers.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
