Dora Jeanette Hunt Lowry, 97, died Thursday, February 9, 2012.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Hopewell Holiness Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
She is survived by her daughter, Doreen Lowry of Sanford; her son, C. C. Lowry of St. Charles, MO; 4 grandchildren, Erin, Elena, Ana, and Jon; and 7 great grandchildren. Dora was also loved by the spouses of the above.
Born July 19, 1914 in Robeson County, she was a daughter of the late Samuel H. and Ophelia Hammonds Hunt and widow of the late Calvin Lowry. She was preceded in death by her sisters and brothers: Queen, Lettie Mae, Babe, Phelia, Leitha, Budd, Gordan, Graddy, Asberry, Ed, and McMurry.
As a servant of Jesus Christ and others for many years, our loved one is now at rest in whom she always believed and served so well. Her life was an example to us as a faithful Christian, spiritual leader, homemaker, caretaker, and a woman of conviction and integrity. She was loved by many through all aspects of her life as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. The love she has shown was always deeply felt and exemplified Christ's love for us. As we are celebrating her heavenly homecoming, she will be missed dearly by all.
Memorials may be made to Hopewell Holiness Methodist Church, 3512 Union School Rd., Rowland, NC 28383.
Visitation will follow the committal service at the church.
