Donald Nelson West, 66, died Friday, July 18, 2014 at his home.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday at New Hope Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Diane Clewis West; his daughters, Jamie West Haywood (Earl, Jr.) and Jennifer West Coughenour (Cory) of Laurinburg; his brother, Billy West of Maxton; his sisters, Patricia West of Laurinburg and Elaine West of Statesville; his grandchildren, Madison Haywood, MaKenzie Haywood, Macie Haywood, Landon Coughenour, and Lauren Coughenour.
Born March 14, 1948 in Scotland County, he was a son of the late Willie Lee and Margaret Ivey West. He served in the US Army from 1968 to 1970, and later worked for McGirt's Plumbing in Maxton. For 38 plus years he served as shop foreman for Averitt's Electric where he had a reputation for honesty and hard work.

Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
