Donald Francis Sheppard

Donald Francis Sheppard, 77, of Troy passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2023 at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

A funeral service will be held Friday, December 29, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Troy, officiated by Rev. Daniel Luther and Rev. Dennis Sheppard. Burial will follow at the First Wesleyan Church Cemetery in Troy. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. prior to the service in the church.

Born January 12, 1946, in Montgomery County, he was a son of the late Paul Howard, Sr. and Edna Hargett Sheppard. Donald loved the outdoors and spending time with his family. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and his life long hobby of beekeeping. Donald also enjoyed his annual fishing trips with his brothers in the eastern region of North Carolina.

He is survived by is wife Joyce Burris Sheppard of the home; daughters, Kim Sheppard and Stephanie Hinson (Jamie), both of Troy; brothers, Ronald Sheppard (Pearl) of Star, Frank Sheppard (Lynn) of Mt. Airy, and John Sheppard of Troy; sister, Nancy Allred (Donald) of Candor; sisters-in-law, Joyce B. Sheppard of Eagle Springs, Marie Sheppard of Troy, Linda Hunt of Troy, and Shirley Luther (Jim) of Troy; grandchildren, Danen Hinson, Delana H. Cagle, Grant Hinson, Brynn H. Bourgoin, and Luke Hinson; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Dorris Sheppard and Paul Sheppard; and sisters, Brenda Sheppard and Shelby Sheppard.
