Donald Eugene Matthews

Donald Eugene Matthews, 71 of Laurinburg, died Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Scotland Memorial Hospital.

Born December 23, 1946, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, he was a son of the late Alfred Matthews and Mae Etta McMillan Matthews.  He retired from Balfour Beaty Construction Company with 30 years of service as a Construction Superintendent.  Donald also loved the Arkansas Razor Backs and miniature horses.

Donald is survived by his wife of 31 years, Norma Jean Shull Matthews of the home; daughters, Paula Bayles (Buck) of Hedgesville, WV, Candace Howell (Caleb) of Marshallberg, NC and Lindsay Ball (Steve) of San Diego, CA; son, James Haile of Bluemont, VA, sister, Betty Kesner of Springdale, AR; brother, Glen Matthews of Madison, WI, Kenny Matthews and Jimmy Dean Matthews both of Springdale, AR; and four grandchildren, Montana and Shelby Silveous and Elise and Juliette Ball.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Lee McMillan.

A private service will be held at a later date.
