Mr. Donald Falls Jordan, 81, of 300 Turnpike Road died Wednesday, June 7, at the residence of his daughter in Sanford.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church officiated by the Revs. Lawrence B. Coleman and Eric Porterfield. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery.
He is survived by a son, Don Jordan and his wife, Cecilia of Laurel, MD; two daughters, Peggy Womble and her husband, Theron of Sanford, and Martha Shapiro and her husband, Gary of Laurinburg; a brother, Alton Jordan of Alexander City, AL; six grandchildren, Seth Womble and Jordan Womble of Sanford, Leah Jordan and Matthews Jordan of Laurel, MD, Alan Shapiro and Michael Shapiro of Laurinburg.
Born October 7, 1918 in Laurinburg, he was a son of the late W. A. and Rodney Flack Jordan. He was a 1934 graduate of Laurinburg, High School, a 1938 graduate of Wake Forest, and a 1948 graduate of NC State. He was an engineer with W. E. Matthews and later Jordan, Snowdon, and McVicker.
He was a US Army veteran of World War II, serving as a meteorologist in China. He was also active in many areas at the First Baptist Church, serving as a youth and adult Sunday school teacher, deacon, and treasurer. He was also an active member of the Laurinburg Rotary Club, serving many years as the club secretary.
