The Rev. Don Lee Harris, 83, a native of Enfield, NC died on Sunday, August 17, 2014.
Rev. Harris served as a minister for many United Methodist churches throughout eastern NC. He officially retired after 40 years, but continued serving churches as an interim minister for another 14 years.
A memorial service will be held 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Rowland United Methodist Church. Burial will be held at a later date.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Emma House Harris; his children, Donna H. Jensen (Richard) of Cary, NC, Leesa Harris Cottrell (Johnny) of Gilbert, SC; Debra H. Holcomb of Laurinburg, and Donald C. Harris (Janet) of Zebulon. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, two step-grandsons, and 13 great grandchildren.
Memorials are requested for Rowland United Methodist Church, PO Box 66, Rowland, NC 28383 or Hospice of Scotland County, PO Box 1033, Laurinburg, NC 28353.
The family will have a visitation in the church fellowship hall following the service.
