Derrek Levon Bennett

Derrek Bennett, 58, of Star, NC passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at his residence.

The family will be having a memorial service at Smith’s Funeral Home Saturday, January 20th at 1:00pm.

Born, March 15, 1965, in Anson County, he was the son of the late Janet Bennett.  He loved watching sports and listening to gospel music.

He is survived by his three siblings, Tammy Carter of Fayetteville, NC, Larry Bennett (Catherine) of Monroe, NC, and Barbara Huntley of Silver Spring, MD; nieces – Sonia Huntley of Bowie, MD, Charis Walker (Benjamin) of Willow Wood, OH, Junelle Buttram (Brian) – Charlotte, NC and nephews – Darnell Bennett (Michelle) of Charlotte, NC, Joshua Carter of Fayetteville, NC, and a host of cousins.
