David Malloy Monroe, Sr.

Mr. David Malloy Monroe, Sr., 77, of 15543 Silver Hill Road died Wednesday, February 28, at Duke University Medical Center.
A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Friday at the Old Laurel Hill Presbyterian Church officiated by the Rev. Bobby Dean and David Ruth.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Frances Richardson Monroe; two sons, David M. Monroe, Jr. of Laurinburg and Charles Monroe of Wagram; four daughters, Mary M. Baer of Charlotte, Henrietta M. Edge of Laurinburg, Grace M. Gibson of Gibson, and Eva M. Ruth of Fayetteville; a sister, Martha Verna Norfleet of Laurinburg; 18 grandchildren.
Born June 21, 1923 in Scotland County, he was a son of the late Raymond and Verna Stribling Monroe.
David served in Italy with the US Army in World War II. He later worked with McNaira
