Mr. Danvis Clayton "Skeet" Evans, 70, of 802 Old Lumberton Road died Sunday, October 8, at Edwin Morgan Center.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Central United Methodist Church officiated by the Rev. Quentin Covington. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery.
Born June 3, 1930 in Norwood, NC, he was the son of the late Danvis and Loney Cole Evans. Mr. Evans attended Scotland County Schools and was a talented carpenter and wood craftsman. He was honorably discharged from the US Army Reserve in 1963 and retired from Scotland Manor in 1992.
He is survived by two sons, Danny Robert Patterson and wife, Catherine of Wilmington, NC, and Jerry Ray Patterson and wife, Denice of Raleigh, NC; three daughters, Susan Gail Smith and husband, Steve of Myrtle Beach, SC; Kimberly Dawn Pressley and husband, Tony of Monroe, NC, and Jennifer Butler Pregge and husband, Lou of Charlotte, NC; two brothers, John Thomas "Tommy" Evans and Luther LeGrant "Grant" Evans of Laurinburg; his aunt, Faye Harris Cashwell of Laurinburg; five grandchildren, Gracie Anne and Daniel Clayton Patterson of Raleigh, NC; Jonathan William Smith of Myrtle Beach, SC; Evan Andrew Pressley of Monroe, NC; and Lauren Elizabeth Pregge of Charlotte, NC.
