Daniel Lauchlin Middleton, Jr

Mr. Daniel Lauchlin Middleton, Jr. 77, of Southern Pines died Friday, August 27, at Kingswood Nursing Center in Aberdeen.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Hillside Cemetery in Laurinburg.
He is survived by a daughter, Ayn Muse Middleton of Laurinburg; two brothers, James Duncan Middleton of Charlotte and Sam Middleton of Maxton; three sisters, Patsy Ann Middleton of Charlotte, Laura Middleton Newton of Greenville, SC, and Catherine "Kitty" Middleton Currie of Laurinburg; several nieces and nephews; a long time friend and sponsor, William Crews of Southern Pines; and a friend Bill W. He was preceded in death by a brother, William B.Middleton and a sister Peggy Middleton Craig.
Born October 26, 1932 in Richmond County, he was a son of the late Daniel L. Middleton, Sr. and Laura Winston Baker Middleton. After graduation from Laurinburg High School he entered the US Air Force achieving a perfect score on the entrance exam for flight school. He then served as a Fighter Pilot in the Air Force. He also attended Duke Divinity School.
Dan was an avid reader and had a wide range of interests.
