Dallas "Tex" Jonathan Cooke

Dallas Jonathan Cooke, son of Carolyn Watkins Cooke and the late Paul Andrew Cooke Sr. was born on September 23, 1953 in Montgomery County, NC. He fell asleep in death on Sunday, December 22, 2024 at the FirstHealth Hospice & Palliative Care in Pinehurst, NC, while surrounded by his loving family.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 28, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Bumgarner Family Funeral Service Chapel in Troy, officiated by Chris Miller. Services will be live streamed on Bumgarner Family Funeral Service Facebook page.

"Tex", as he was fondly called by family and friends, attended Montgomery County Schools and was a 1971 graduate of West Montgomery High School. He furthered his education and took a carpentry course at Montgomery Community College. Dallas began employment with Collins & Aikman in Albemarle, NC and later with Unilin in Mt. Gilead, where he worked until becoming disabled. As a young adult he had a love for cars and can be remembered for having some of the nicest ones around town.

He was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses and attended the local Kingdom Hall.

Dallas was preceded in death by his father, Paul Cooke Sr.; one brother, Paul Cooke Jr; one sister, Pattie Louise Cooke; and one niece, Pattie Hollingsworth-Maxwell.

Warm and loving memories will remain in the hearts of his family: his wife of 43 years, Tonya Cooke of the home; two sons, Gabriel Little (Tamira) of Star, NC and TaCorey Baldwin of Troy, NC; mother, Carolyn Watkins Cooke of Mt. Gilead; three brothers, Larry Watkins (Sonya) of Kings Mountain, NC, Bobby Cooke (Gwen) of Rockingham, NC, and Fernando Cooke (Latoya) of Mt. Gilead; four sisters, Avis Cooke and Rhoda Goode (Whitley) both of Mt. Gilead, Paula Butler (Clifford) of Greensboro, NC, and Barbara Gould (Nakia) of Albemarle; nine grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Wanda Amos (Paul) of Greensboro, Robin Streater of Eagle Springs, NC, and Sharon Cooke of Harrisburg, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
