Courtney Lewis Carmichael, 69, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Scotland Memorial Hospital.
A funeral service will be 11:00 am Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Laurinburg Presbyterian Church officiated by Dr. Duane Hix. The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 20, 2016 from 6-8 pm at McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium. Burial will be private.
Born November 18, 1947 in Oxford, NC, she was a daughter of the late Richard Meriwether and Mary Courtney Peace Lewis. She loved to cross stitch, loved her children, and especially loved her grandchildren and going to lunch every Friday at Jerry’s Deli with her lunch ladies. She taught Sunday school for 30 plus years and was the 2016 Presbyterian Woman of the Year. Courtney received her RN at Presbyterian Hospital, Charlotte NC and was a Scotland County Home Health Nurse and served in various entities of Home Health.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, William P. Carmichael, Sr. of the home; daughters, Sarah T. Carmichael and Amy C. Rose (Adam) of Apex; son William P. Carmichael, Jr. (Julie) of Laurinburg; sisters, Eleanor L. McRae of Laurinburg, Caroline L. White (Roger) of Charlotte, Meriwether L. Maynard (Joe) of Belmont; grandchildren Lane Roberson, Abigail Elizabeth Rose, William Parks Carmichael, III, and Benjamin Alexander Rose.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the General Fund or Childcare Center c/o Laurinburg Presbyterian Church, 600 West Church Street, Laurinburg, NC 28352.
