Conswelia "Connie" Gail Barber

Conswelia Gail Barber, known fondly to friends and family as Connie, passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at the age of 62 at her residence.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, May 22, 2025 at New Hope Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Nathan Black.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Born on October 15, 1962, in Scotland County, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence Curtis Barber and Beatrice Hudson Barber.

She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and her church was a cornerstone of her life. Connie's church family was very important to her along with her faith. She took great pleasure in the simple things: the quiet moments spent on her front porch and the joy she found in cooking. Connie loved being with people and she loved her cats, Tigger and Leroy.  They were her boys.  She enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves and never missed a game. She could name all the players and positions.  Professionally, Connie dedicated many years to Scotia Village in Housekeeping, where her love for her job was evident. Connie is survived by her sister, Betty Breeden of Laurinburg, niece, Aimie Hoover (David) of Raeford; nephews, Casey Barber of Hasty and Jayson Breeden (Keri) of Laurinburg, great nieces and nephews, Mollie, Maxwell, and Jake Hoover all of Raeford, Nancy Hoover of Rockingham and Chloe Breeden of Kentucky; sister-in-law, Cindy Barber of Hasty; special cousin, Ronnie Hudson (Lori) of Gibson; and other cousins; special friends, Darlene Jenner of Tennessee and Rhonda Chavis of Laurinburg. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Larry Houston Barber.
