Clifton Rudolph “Rudy” Hayes, 87, passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at Scotland Memorial Hospital.
A memorial service will be at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at First Baptist Church, officiated by the Rev. Dr. Wayne Wike. Burial will be private.
Born January 28, 1930 in Henrico County, Virginia, he was a son of the late Erfie David and Elma Baggett Hayes. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Laurinburg and an active member of their Ramp Team up until he became sick. Family was very important to Rudy and he loved them dearly.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Martha Pond Hayes of the home; daughters, Carol Hayes Simmons (Winn) of Laurinburg and Anna Hayes Gallup (Robert) of Charlotte; grandchildren, Delaney Brigman, Mikayla Brigman, Abigail Gallup, Rebecca Simmons, Sarah Simmons, Frazier Simmons and Ford Simmons; and sister, Evaline Matthews of Stedman. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Erfie Hayes Jr. and Wiley Hayes and sister, Elmeta White.
