Dr. Clifford W. Tremblay, 79, of 903 Sherbrooke Circle died Friday, April 12, 2013 at his home.
A Memorial Service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at St. David's Episcopal Church A private burial will be at Hillside Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Wright Tremblay; a daughter, Carol Branner of Wilmington; two sons, Gary Tremblay of Laurinburg and Austin Tremblay of Houston, TX; a brother, Elbert Tremblay of Pittsboro; 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Born November 7, 1933 in Clifton, NJ, he was a son of the late Leonard and Marie Tremblay. He moved to Laurinburg in the summer of 1977 and taught and was the Chair of the Mathematics Department at Scotland High school. In 1983 he joined the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke where he retired and was given the honorary title of Professor Emeritus.
A lover of model trains, he often had a room dedicated to them where he could play the role of an engineer. Since childhood he would spend hours planning and working on his trains. With his eyesight failing in his final months, one of the last things he saw and enjoyed was seeing his Lionel Trains decorating his house for Christmas.
