Mr. C. Talmage McQueen, Jr. 76, of 1208 Austin St. died suddenly Friday, September 2, at Scotland Memorial Hospital in Laurinburg.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday at the First Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Kathryn McIntyre McQueen; three sons, Jesse McQueen and wife, Wanda of Hamlet, Chesley McQueen, III and Danny McQueen of Laurel Hill; a daughter, Terry Ivey and husband, Ronnie of Laurel Hill; a brother, Bill McQueen of Laurel Hill; four grandchildren, Kelly Caulder of Laurel Hill, Jordan McQueen of Laurinburg, Garrett McQueen and Brooks McQueen of Hamlet, a great grandson, Ryley Norton of Laurel Hill.
Born June 16, 1929 in Robeson County, he was a son of the late Chesley T. and Annie Pearl McLean. He was retired from Mohawk Carpets in Dillon, SC. Talmage also enjoyed tending his garden and canning fruits and vegetables. He even worked in his garden on Thursday. He was also a former deacon and elder in the First Presbyterian Church, and along with his daughter became the first father and daughter to serve together as church elders.

Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Saturday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium in Laurinburg.
