The Rev. Charlie Douglas Polston, 91, formerly of Aberdeen Road died Thursday, November 9, at Autumn Care Nursing Home in Raeford.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday at Northview Harvest Ministries with Rev. Kenneth Blease and Rev. Lewis McLean officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery.
Born July 3, 1909 in Marlboro County he was a son of the late James E. and Sallie Freeman Polston and was preceded in death by his wife and son, Malcolm Polston.
Rev. Polston founded Northview Pentecostal Holiness Church (now Northview Harvest Ministries) in 1948, Laurinburg Pentecostal Holiness Church, and Raeford Pentecostal Holiness Church. He also pastored several other churches in North and South Carolina.
He is survived by three daughters; Margaret Wiley and husband, Jim of Charlotte, Ruby Lee Kelly and Verna Snead and husband, Alfred all of Laurinburg, two sons; James Albert Polston and wife, Margie of Gainesville, VA and Norman Polston and wife, Sarah of Laurinburg, one brother; Lester Polston of Fayetteville, thirteen grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren.
The family will be receiving friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
