Charles Riley

Charles Otis Riley, 85, passed away Monday, February 14, 2022 at Scotland Memorial Hospital.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Bumgarner Family Funeral Service and Crematorium Chapel, officiated by Rev. Richard Tyson. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Due to Covid-19, all attendees are asked to wear a mask and practice social distancing when possible.

Born September 7, 1936 in Orange County, NC, he was the son of the late Tilton Pershing Riley and Ethel Stout Petty.  Mr. Riley was a supervisor in the textile industry.  He was known for being a very hard worker and would help anyone. In addition, for his love for the family, he loved to eat, watch western movies, and gardening with the grandchildren. He never met a stranger and he loved to pick and play with people; singing and whistling along his way. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Bonnie Hill Riley of the home; daughter, Diane Riley (Dale) of Graham; son, David Riley (Mallory) of Laurinburg; one step-son, Joe Talbert of the home; step-daughter, Michelle Herndon of Laurel Hill; son-in-law, Tommy Greeson of Graham; sister-in-law, Janice Riley of Burlington; half-brother, Johnny Riley of Graham; half-sister, Brenda Snipes of Graham; sixteen grandchildren; twenty two great grandchildren; four great- great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Sylvia J. Greeson; son, Charles David Riley and his wife, Teresa; brothers, Lynwood Sykes and his wife, Carol, Darrell Riley, and Joe Riley and his wife, Wanda; half-brothers, Jimmy Riley, Sammy Riley, and Jerry Riley; and step-daughter; Susan Talbert.

Bumgarner Family Funeral Service and Crematorium is serving the Riley family.
