M. Sgt. Ret. Charles E. Rhye, USAF, 76, formerly of Laurinburg died Saturday, March 6, at his home.
A graveside service will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Hillside Memorial Park. Visitation will be 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. at McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Allen Rhye of Laurinburg; his son, Michael Rhye of Conway, SC; his step-son, Patrick Butler of Hickory; his step-daughter, Johnnie Wright of E. Laurinburg; his sisters, Hazel Archer and Margaret Ray of E. Laurinburg; his grandsons, Patrick Wright, Dakota and Hunter Butler. He was preceded in death by his brother, William Franklin Rhye.
Born January 3, 1939 in Scotland County, he was a son of the late Angus L. and Easter Hulon Rhye. He served 23 years with the US Air Force, retiring as a Master Sergeant. A licensed electrician he later served on overseas projects in the Middle East.
