Charles Joseph Chavis, 40, of Boondocks Road, died Tuesday, December 13.
Funeral services will be 2 pm Saturday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium Chapel officiated by Don Malpass. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.
He is survived by his parents, Houston and Marie Chavis of Wagram; two sons, Charles Houston Chavis and William Phillip "Billy" Chavis of the home; one daughter, Kathlyn Peele of Laurel Hill; one brother Benjamin Justin Chavis and wife, Amy of Wagram; Paternal Grandmother, Clorine Chavis of Laurinburg; maternal grandmother, Helen Delores Crawford of Laurinburg; nieces, Brittany Thrower and Ashlan Madison, a nephew, Aaron Chavis, and several aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Glenn Chavis.
Born March 13, 1965 in Scotland County he was a self- employed mechanic. His skills in mechanics led to an enjoyment of drag racing and he owned his own drag racing car.
