Earl Haynes died January 1, 2010 at age 83 after a brief illness at Scotia Village, Laurinburg, NC. He is survived by his wife, Jackie, of the home and three children, Brenda Tyler of Rockingham, James Michael of Cary and Patrick of Kinston, six grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and a sister Sadie Zipperer of Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Earl was a Navy veteran of WWII. He received his BA degree from Howard Payne College in Brownwood, Texas and a Bachelor of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC. He pastored churches in Texas, Florida, and North Carolina. He also worked in childcare with the Baptist Children's Home of NC and later with Fruitland Baptist Bible Institute in Fruitland, NC.
His passion was sharing his love for the Lord. He showed love for people through song and sense of humor.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 12th at Scotia Village.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Baptist Children's Homes of NC, Michael McMillan at Wycliffe Bible Translators, or The Encompass Program at Scotia Village.
