Mrs. Catherine Rue Lee 'Kay' Cooke, 79, of Scotia Village died Monday, April 26, at Scotia Village.
Memorial services will be 4 p.m. Friday at Scotia Village and 11 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church officiated by the Rev. Wil Jackson.
She is survived by two sons, Bradford Cooke of Pelham, NY and John Cooke of Babylon, NY; four grandchildren, Teddy Cooke and Amanda Cooke of Pelham, Ny and Rachael Cooke and Sara Cooke of Babylon, NY, and her cousins Meta Swyers and Nancy Sandgren of Laurinburg.
Born January 11, 1920 in Brooklyn, Kay studied nursing at Coronell Medical School/New York Hospital in New York City. She was the long time manager of the offices of Martin Alpert, M. D. of West Islip, NY.
Kay was a loving person, volunteering many times to help nurture infants in New York hospitals and serving as a volunteer at hospitals and libraries in Venice, Florida where she retired, and as a volunteer office worker at the First United Methodist Church in Laurinburg. She also had a life long love of horses which began when her father served in the 101st. Calvary of the US Army.
