Calvin R. Ditrick, 87, formerly of Middleburg, OH passed away Friday, August 16, 2013.
A memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday at Scotia Village officiated by the Rev. Linda Nelson. A committal service will be later at Arlington National Cemetery.
Cal was the son of Vaughn and Florence Ditrick, born November 7, 1924. He and his brothers and sisters were raised on a small from in Ohio, and he later was a graduate of Ohio State University with a degree in Engineering. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters, his first wife, Katherine, and daughter, Deborah Ditrick-Brewer.
He is survived by his wife, Adele Ditrick; his son, David Ditrick (Patricia) of Chesapeake Beach, MD; a grandson, Bradford Ditrick (Nicole) and great grandson, Colin Ditrick of West Palm Beach, FL.
Calvin's career spanned three decades with time at International Harvester, Boeing Aircraft, and the Department of Defense. He also served in the US Navy and Naval Reserves for 20 years, retiring with the rank of Commander. He also coached little league baseball, led a Cub Scout troop, and was an Elder in the Presbyterian Church. Cal was an avid fan of Ohio State football, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and to all who knew him. He was also known as a picker of the canjo.
