Brenda Jo Hicks Helms, 66, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday November 1, 2024, at Hillside Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Timmy Hicks and Tabitha Guinn.

Born on March 31, 1958, in Greenville County, SC, she was a daughter of Willie Hicks and Ruby Caulder Hicks.

Professionally, Brenda dedicated her life to the noble calling of caregiving. As a Certified Nursing Assistant, she provided comfort and care to those in need, touching many lives with her kindness and compassion. She had a passion for music, adored spending time with children, and was known for being a "big cut-up," always ready to share a laugh or a smile with those around her. Brenda is survived by her son, William Dean (Courtney) of Lumberton; grandchildren, Micah Dean, Israel Dean and Cain Dean; three great-grandchildren; mother, Ruby Hicks of Laurel Hill; brother, Timmy Hicks (Robin) of Little Rock, AR; sister, Dorrell Cribb (Gilbert) of Maxton; special niece and caregiver, Tabitha Guinn; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Willie Hicks; granddaughter, Jordan Chavis; and sister, Patty Locklear. Bumgarner Family Funeral Service and Crematorium is assisting the Helms family.
