Boyd Talmadge "BT" Byrd, 82, passed away Thursday, November 6 at Scottish Pines.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium Chapel. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Kirsten Byrd; his sons, Richard Byrd and Jason Byrd of Laurinburg; his daughters, Susan Dianne Newberry of VA, Rebecca Gail Byrd of Pinebluff, NC and Laura Byrd of Laurinburg; his stepson, Mark Pacenza of Laurinburg; his brothers, Jerry Byrd of Charleston, SC and Bobby Byrd of Florence, SC; twelve grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Adley Byrd, Bill Byrd and Buddy Byrd and sister, Evelyn Mew.
Born March 2, 1932 in Dillon, SC, he was a son of the late Williamson Albert Byrd and Leatha Owens Byrd. "BT" worked for the Dolly Madison Company for 10 years and retired from ARA Food Services with 25 years of service. He enjoyed his retirement and liked doing things around the house and yard. He enjoyed watching TBN and other inspirational programs. "BT" was very fond of gospel music.
"BT" was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather and a friend that will truly be missed. He leaves to cherish his memory many family members, friends and his pets.
Memorials may be made to the Scotland County Humane Society, 1401 West Blvd., Laurinburg, NC 28352.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
