Betty Jean (Smith) Jacobs

Betty Jean Smith Jacobs, 66 of Laurel Hill, passed away on Sunday, October 14, 2018 at her home.

A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at the McDougald Funeral Home Bumgarner Chapel, officiated by Rev. J.B. Loving. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Born September 3, 1952 in Scotland County, she was a daughter of the late J.C. and Bertha Campbell Smith. She was a very dedicated nurse, spanning a career of over 40 years before retirement. She took great pride in her work and treated her patients like family. Betty loved the beach, fishing, swimming and listening to beach music. She loved animals and treated them as if they were her children, which fit her personality since she loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Angela B. Lewis (Brian) of Laurinburg; special companion, Charles Williams of Laurel Hill; brother, Andy Smith of Laurel Hill; sister, Kathy Cordial (Roger) of FL; special nieces, Tracey Lynn Warner of FL, Beth Foster and Amy Smith, both of Laurel Hill; and a host of other nieces and nephews and family and friends. She is preceded in death by her brother, J.C. Smith Jr.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Scotland County Humane Society, 1401 West Blvd., Laurinburg, N.C. 28352.
