Betty Ann Reiman passed away at Scotland Memorial Hospital on Monday, February 4, 2014 after a brief illness.
A private funeral service at Arlington National Cemetery is planned at a later date.
Betty was born on January 16, 1922 in Vineland, New Jersey, the daughter of Annie Frampton Young of London, England and John Young of Oban, Scotland, and the adoptive daughter of Joseph and Sarah Coucill.
On January 20, 1944, Betty married Second Lieutenant Robert Ellis Reiman in Laurel, Mississippi, a month before Bob's deployment with the 410th Bomb Group of the Army Air Corps to Gosfield, England. After a twenty-year career in the Air Force, Betty and Bob settled in Boone, North Carolina in 1963, where Bob was a professor of regional planning at Appalachian State University. In August of 1989, they moved to Scotia Village in Laurinburg, North Carolina, where they enjoyed an active and productive retirement.
Betty is predeceased by her parents, her husband and her son Richard. She is survived by a sister, Violet of Estelle Manor, New Jersey; a son Robert Reiman (Sandy) of Mebane, NC; daughter-in-law, Sabra Reiman (Richard); grandchildren, Andrew, Elizabeth and Brian Reiman and their mother Dr. Rosa Merino; nieces Renee McGarry and Terri Young; and nephew Russell Smith of Cherry Hill, New Jersey; and many friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Scotia Village Foundation, 2200 Elm Avenue, Laurinburg, North Carolina.
