Ms. Betty Jean Chavis, 48, died Thursday, January 17, 2008.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium Chapel officiated by the Rev. Jeff McGirt. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park.
She is survived by two sons, Donald Smith of Laurinburg and Ronald Smith of Hamlet; a daughter, Melissa Smith of Laurel Hill; her father, Landon Chavis of Laurinburg; a sister, Cherrill Goodwin of Newport; aunts, Martha Norton of Laurinburg and Jean Hardeen of Burgaw; two grandchildren, Dalton and Danica Smith.
Born November 7, 1959 in Laurinburg, she was also a daughter of the late Patrician Ann Douglas. She was employed in customer service with Lowe’s in Rockingham.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
