Mrs. Betty Lenora Perkins Lewis Caulder, 81, died Friday, January 11, 2008 in the Morrison Manor after an illness.
Born in Scotland County, NC, December 6, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Frank Edward Perkins and Addie Mae Chavers Perkins. She was married to the late Curtis Wade Lewis and then to the late Eddie Joe Caulder.
Mrs. Caulder was a member of the Laurel Hill United Methodist Church, the Lula Watkins Sunday School Class and had served her church in many capacities. In 2003, Mrs. Caulder was honored by the Laurel Hill United Methodist Church for her many years of dedicated service. She retired as payroll clerk for Spring Mills, was a volunteer at Scotland Memorial Hospital and worked in the gift shop. She loved gardening and crocheting and was famous for her delicious pound cakes. She was the Valedictorian of Laurinburg High School class of 1944 and was inducted in the National Honor Society. She also received the John F. McNair Scholarship.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Monday, January 14, 2008 in the Laurel Hill United Methodist Church officiated by the Reverend Carol Noy. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park. Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 P.M. Sunday in McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
She is survived by a son, Curtis Wade “Buddy” Lewis, Jr. of Laurinburg; daughters, Brenda Lewis Little of Greenville, NC and Dr. Barbara L. Fox and husband Dr. David E. Fox of Bridgewater, Va.; sisters, Jean P. and husband Marshall Crews of Brook Neal, Va., Margaret P. House of Fayetteville, NC and Bernice and husband Alex Harris of Rowlette, TX; sister in law, Betty D. Perkins of Stone Mountain, Ga.; grandchildren, Jessica Dean Lewis, Timothy Earl Little, Floyd Anthony Little and Marlo Maria Blake all of Greenville, NC; great grandchildren, Timothy Landen Little, Samuel Larson Little and Andrew James Blake all of Greenville, NC; also, numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Caulder was predeceased in death by a sister, Ruth Hazelton and a brother, Frank Perkins, Jr.
