Barbara (Williams) Shoemake

Barbara Williams Shoemake, 86, of Wagram, passed away on June 3, 2025 at her home.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at the Wagram Church of God officiated by Pastor Ethan Jacobs, Rev. Harry Clark, Rev. Ronnie Norton, and Rev. David Shoemake, with the family receiving friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Park.

Barbara was born September 5, 1938 in Scotland County, NC. She was the daughter of the late Joseph Allen and Elsie Mishoe Williams. She grew up singing with her sisters and husband, writing many songs, and sharing her love of God with others through the Gospel Sounds. She will be remembered for her faith, cheery personality, and wisdom she bestowed on everyone around her; always providing a warm feeling and matriarchal presence to anyone she came in contact with. Barbara loved cooking, spending time with her family, and going to church. She leaned on her religious upbringing, being a member of the Wagram Church of God for many years.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years James Curtis Shoemake, sons Perry Shoemake and James Curtis Shoemake, Jr., daughter Amanda Shoemake and granddaughter Ashley McDaniel, sisters Doris Peele, Marjorie Allen, Mildred (Bill) Walters, Mary Williams, brothers Joe Williams, Jackie Williams, and Billy Frank Williams.

Barbara is survived by her daughter Luann McDaniel (Tommy) of Wagram, NC; grandsons Jonathan McDaniel of Raleigh, NC and Dr. Garrett McDaniel (Kristy) of McColl, SC; granddaughters Misty Watts of Aberdeen and Kristin Jacobs of Laurinburg. Great granddaughters Brianna and Avery McDaniel, great grandsons Richie and Tyler Watts and Spencer Shoemake, and two great great grandchildren. Sisters Brenda Clark (Tommy) of Laurel Hill, Elsie Granville (Blanchard) of Pinehurst, brother Gerald Williams (Levon) of McColl, and a host of nieces and nephews.
