Mrs. Barbara Hasty Sasseen of 1009 Heather Lane died Thursday, August 31, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital after a recuperative period in the home and a lengthy hospital stay.
A memorial service will be 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the Laurinburg Presbyterian Church officiated by the Rev. dr. Nick Mager. Burial will be in the Memorial Gardens.
She is survived by her husband, Tony; a daughter, Susan Parker of Laurinburg; a son, Rodney McCarter of Laurinburg; her parents, Walter and Martha Barefoot Hasty of Laurinburg; two sisters, Anna McMillan and Debbie Milligan of Laurinburg; a brother, Andy Hasty of Gibson; and twin granddaughters, Megan and Morgan Parker of Laurinburg. She also has three 'daughters;' Lara S. Ellis and Julianne S. Clodfelter and grandson, Rhett of Pinehurst; and E. ashley Bland of Calabash.
Barbara was an extremely conscientious working lady who gave her duties more than the time required. In her later work career, she co-partnered her own real extate business, Scotland Properties, and sucessfully operated it for over five years. She retired from Mega Force Staffing Services.
She was involved with many community and service organizations of which, in the latter years, her three most involved were: the American Cancer Society/Scotland County, serving as chairman; Relay for Life, board member and worker; the Scottish Pilot Club, having recently received their Distinguished Service Award.
Memorials are requested to Hospice of Scotland County, PO Box 1033, Laurinburg, NC 28353 or the American Cancer Society, 11 S. Boylan St., Raleigh, NC.
Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Saturday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
